Intralot successfully launches the 44th US lottery

INTRALOT, Inc., the North American subsidiary of INTRALOT Group, powered the successful launch of the newest lottery in the United States.

The Wyoming Lottery, WyoLotto, made history at noon on Sunday August 24th by selling its first tickets to Mary Ogg from Sheridan. She was chosen randomly from more than 27,000 entrants in a giveaway promoting the launch of the lottery. In addition to purchasing the first two lottery tickets sold in Wyoming, she also won a 2014 Jeep Wrangler and free Mega Millions tickets for a year. When asked what she thought about being the central figure in a historic day for the Wyoming Lottery, Ogg responded, “I really did not believe that this was happening to this old lady.”

The Wyoming Lottery reported $1,000 in sales per minute for the first hour of ticket sales on August 24. Between noon, when lottery sales opened, and midnight, there was $198,612 in sales.. Between the new two games, total Powerball sales were $130,578, while total Mega Millions sales were $68,034.

“We had a very good grand opening day, showing the tremendous support that Wyoming residents have for the lottery,” said Wyoming Lottery CEO, Jon Clontz. “Outcomes are what matter and I am simply amazed at the outcome we just experienced! To go-live with a complex project like this in 10.5 short months is a significant achievement! To do this with such precision and quality is an even greater achievement. I wish to thank my team, our Board of Directors and our talented and experienced gaming vendor INTRALOT.”

WyoLotto released an RFP for Lottery Operations and Services back on December 2013. The largest three vendors in the industry submitted proposals and after a thorough review of each proposal, the Lottery awarded the contract to INTRALOT, which scored the highest points. INTRALOT signed a 5-year contract with the Lottery with three, 5-year extension options. Under the terms of the contract, Intralot provides on-going services including the supply, installation, maintenance and support of the new lottery Central System and software platforms, terminal network and communications. In addition, Intralot provides a field sales staff that recruits and trains retailers and also works with them to enhance their sales.

Since beginning operations in 2002, INTRALOT, Inc. has won 14 contracts in the highly competitive US marketplace, including the last 2 lotteries that have started new operations in the country, the previous one being the highly successful Arkansas Scholarship Lottery in 2009.
